Players look to take control of the Knights

The Canberra Times have announced that the Canberra Knights players have approached the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) to take on the club license and revive the team. Club owner, John Raut yesterday announced that the Knights would fold due to financial costs, lack of players and poor performance. Talks, headed by captain Mark Rummukainen, are scheduled to be held today with the AIHL deputy commissioner Alex Lata. The ACT Government has announced that if successful the $29,000 in funding would continue to be paid to the club regardless of ownership.
