2016 World Championships: Australia wins Division II Group B

The Australian men’s national team have defeated New Zealand 6-2 in their final game of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division II Group B tournament, finishing first in the standings and earning promotion back to Division II Group A for 2017. Anthony Kimlin was named best player of the match and best goaltender of the tournament. Paul Baranzelli was named the tournaments best defenceman and Wehebe Darge was selected as the best Australian player of the tournament and the tournament MVP. In other games of the day Israel beat Bulgaria 5-3 and Mexico defeated North Korea 5-3. Bulgaria, who finished the tournament in last place, is relegated to Division III for 2017.
