2016 AW2IHL: Series 2

Series 2 of the Australian Women’s Tier 2 Ice Hockey League has finished with the Western Australian Hawkettes defeating the New South Wales Bombers 6-0 in the final. The league expanded to six teams for Series 2 with the South Australian Valkyries and Western Australian Hawkettes joining the competition. The New South Wales Bombers who won Series 1 back in March currently lead the 2016 Combined Series standings with 28 points.

Series 3 of the AW2IHL is scheduled for 1 October and 2 October 2016 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium.

On a very minor note, since Series 1 the league name has been slightly re-organised from the “Australian Tier 2 Women’s Ice Hockey League” to the current format of “Australian Women’s Tier 2 Ice Hockey League”. Basically just “Tier 2” being shifted one place to the right. As a result, I have adjusted the acronym to be AW2IHL.
