2017 U18 Women’s World Championships: Australia defeat Spain

The Australian women’s national under-18 team have won their opening game of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship Division I Group B Qualification tournament, defeating Spain 3-1. Defenceman Lara Azzopardi was named best Australian player of the match. In the other game of the day Mexico defeated Romania 8-1. Australia currently sits second in the standings, trailing Mexico on goal difference. The teams have a rest day today and return on Saturday with Australia taking on Mexico.
