2017 World Championships: Australia win silver

The Australian men’s national team have defeated Belgium 3-0 in their final game of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division II Group A tournament. Goaltender Anthony Kimlin was named best Australian player of the match for a fourth game after stopping all 30 shots on goal. Kimlin was also awarded the best goaltender of the tournament and named best Australian player. In other games of the day the Serbia defeated Iceland 6-0 and Romania beat Spain 6-0. Australia finish the tournament in second place, one point behind tournament winners Romania. As a result of their win Romania gain promotion back to Division I Group B for 2018 while Spain is relegated to Division II Group B after finishing in last place.
