The Australian national team have won the Trans-Tasman Challenge, beating New Zealand 4-3 following a shootout in the final game of the series. After finishing regulation time at three-all the game went into a three-on-three overtime period with both teams failing to score. In the shootout Brendan McDowell and Thomas Powell both scored while Charlie Smart denied both New Zealand shooters to claim the game and the series win.
