2018 U18 World Championships: Australia lose to South Korea

The Australian men’s national under-18 team have lost 1-4 to South Korea in their opening game of the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship Division II Group A tournament. Goaltender James Downie was named best Australian player of the match. In other games of the day the Lithuania defeated Poland 4-3 and Great Britain beat Estonia 6-3. Great Britain leads the standings after the first round with Australia sitting in last place. Australia takes on Great Britain today for their second game of the tournament. The last time these two teams met was at the 2006 World Championship Division II Group B tournament where Australia lost 0-11.
