2018 Women’s World Championships: Australia lose to the Netherlands

The Australian women’s national team have lost to the Netherlands in their third game of the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division II Group A tournament. Goaltender Michelle Coonan was named best Australian player of the match, her second of the tournament. In other games of the day Great Britain defeated Mexico 5-0 and North Korea beat Slovenia 5-4. Australia drops to fifth in the standings, six points behind the leaders Great Britain. Australia takes on North Korea today in their fourth game of the tournament. The last time these two teams met was at the 2017 World Championship Division II Group A tournament where Australia won 2-1.
