Ice Hockey Queensland have announced that they have secured a license to field a team in the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL). Ice Hockey Queensland, who are partnering with the Brisbane Buccaneers and Southern Stars, will hold a conditioning skate on 2 March and are expected to announce team try-outs soon. Given the AIHL’s previously outlined expansion plans the team is likely to play exhibition games in 2022 before joining the league for the 2023 season.
