The Sydney Ice Dogs have defeated Perth Thunder 7–4 in their preliminary round game of the 2026 Goodall Cup playoffs. Sydney had qualified for the match after finishing the regular season in fifth place and Perth had qualified after finishing fourth. Sydney now advances to the semifinal round on 29 August where they will take on the Newcastle Northstars at O’Brien Icehouse.
