2015 IIHF U18 World Championship Division II Group B

Australia U18 lose to Serbia

The Australian men’s under-18 team have lost their final game of the 2015 IIHF U18 World Championship Division II Group B tournament, losing 1-6 to Serbia. Mitchell Henning was named best Australian player of the game and Lynden Lodge was awarded best Australian player of the tournament. In other games of the day Romania defeated Spain 4-3 in overtime and Belgium beat China 7-2. Australia finish the tournament in last place and are relegated to Division III Group A for 2016, while Romania finished in first place and are promoted to Division II Group A.

Romania smash Australia U18

The Australian men’s under-18 team have lost their fourth game of the 2015 IIHF U18 World Championship Division II Group B tournament, losing 3-18 to Romania. Ryan Smith was named best Australian player of the game. In other games of the day Spain defeated Belgium 6-4 and Serbia beat China 6-1. After the end of Round 4 Australian remain in last place, eleven points behind the leaders Romania and Spain. Australia take on Serbia today in their final game of the tournament.

The Australian men’s under-18 team have lost their third game of the 2015 IIHF U18 World Championship Division II Group B tournament, losing 4-14 to Spain. William Moffatt was named best Australian player of the game. In other games of the day Romania defeated China 10-2 and Serbia beat Belgium 6-5. After the end of Round 3 Australia has dropped into last place, eight points behind leaders Romania and Spain. Competition resumes tomorrow after todays rest day with Australia taking on Romania.

China beat Australia U18

After the end of round one Australia is sitting in fourth place, two points behinds leaders Spain and Romania. Australia take on China today in their second game of the tournament.

2015 IIHF U18 World Championship Division II Group B gets underway

The 2015 IIHF U18 World Championship Division II Group B tournament starts today in Novi Sad, Serbia. Australia will face Belgium, China, Romania, Serbia and Spain in the round-robin tournament which runs until 22 March.

HC Banik Sokolov U18 defeat Australia U18

The Australian men’s national under-18 team have lost their exhibition game against HC Banik Sokolov U18. After holding Sokolov at 1-1 at the end of the first period the Australian’s lost their lead in the second with the period ending 3-4. Sokolov then outscored the Australian’s two goals to one in the third with Australia losing the game 4-6. The exhibition match was the teams last of their pre-World Championship training camp in the Czech Republic. The team will now focus on practice sessions before heading to Serbia for the 2015 IIHF U18 World Championship Division II Group B tournament which starts on 16 March.

Australia U18 defeat SK Kadan U18

The Australian men’s national under-18 team have defeated SK Kadan U18 in an exhibition game, winning 6-5. The game is being held as part of the teams pre-World Championship training camp in the Czech Republic. The Australian’s led throughout the game extending their 2-0 lead from the first period to a 5-1 lead at the end of the second. SK Kadan came back in the third period with four power play goals to the Australian’s one goal, with the game ending 6-5 to give head coach Steven Lindsay his first training camp victory.

Australia U18 lose to HC Litomerice U18

The Australian men’s national under-18 team are currently in Chomutov, Czech Republic on a training camp before they head to Novi Sad, Serbia for the 2015 IIHF U18 World Championship Division II Group B tournament. On the second day of their camp the team had a morning practice and an official jersey presentation. Following the presentation the team took part in their first exhibition game of the camp against HC Litomerice U18. The Australian’s had the game all tied up at 1-1 at the end of the first however lost their lead by the end of the second period, trailing 2-3. The Australians scored early in the third to bring the scores back to 3-3 but fell apart in the last 14 minutes letting through five unanswered goals to finish the game with a 3-8 loss.

Today the team play their second exhibition game, taking on SK Kadan U18 at the Sportovini Klub Kadan.
