AMP Capital have announced that they will no longer go ahead with the planned demolition of the Macquarie Ice Rink. Community consultation instead led to AMP Capital announcing that any future development to Macquarie Centre will include an Olympic-sized ice rink. The application to demolish the Macquarie Ice Rink in 2020 has been put on hold following community reaction. It has been announced that the Macquarie Ice Rink, home of the Sydney Bears and Sydney Ice Dogs, will be demolished in 2020. The planned demolition will however have no impact on the 2019 AIHL season with both clubs playing their full home schedule out of Macquarie. No announcement has yet been made on where the two clubs will be based for the 2020 season.
