The Heritage Council of NSW has rejected a proposal to grant the Macquarie Ice Rink heritage listing. An interim heritage order had been initially sought to protect the rink from potential demolition. AMP Capital have announced that they will no longer go ahead with the planned demolition of the Macquarie Ice Rink. Community consultation instead led to AMP Capital announcing that any future development to Macquarie Centre will include an Olympic-sized ice rink.
