Slovenia women’s national ice hockey team

2019 Women’s Championships: Australia lose to Slovenia

The Australian women’s national team have lost 1-6 to Slovenia in their third game of the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division II Group A tournament. In other games of the day North Korea beat Spain 2-1 following a shootout and Great Britain defeated Mexico 3-2 in overtime. At the end of the third round Australia remain last on the standings while Slovenia moves into first. The teams have a rest day today and return on Sunday where Australia take on Mexico. The last time these two teams met was at the 2018 World Championships Division II Group A tournament where Australia won 4-1.

2018 Women’s World Championships: Australia beat Slovenia

The Australian women’s national team have defeated Slovenia 4-2 in their final game of the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division II Group A tournament. Forward Kate Tihema was named best Australian player of the match and goaltender Michelle Coonan was named best Australian player of the tournament. In other games of the day North Korea defeated Mexico 3-2 and the Netherlands beat Great Britain 4-0. Australia finish the tournament in fourth place with six points. The Netherlands finish on top of the standings and are promoted to Division I Group B for 2019.

2017 Women’s World Championship: Australia lose to Slovenia

The Australian women’s national team have lost their second game of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division II Group A tournament, losing to Slovenia 0-3. Forward Kristelle van der Wolf was named best Australian player of the match. In other games of the day the Netherlands defeated North Korea 4-2 and South Korea beat Great Britain 3-1. At the end of the second round Australia have dropped to fourth place, trailing the leader South Korea by three points. The teams have a rest day today before returning on Wednesday where Australia take on South Korea.

Australian Women lose to Estonia

The Australian women’s team have lost their final game of the 2015 IIHF Women’s World Championship Division II Group B tournament, losing to Slovenia 1-5. Katherine McOnie was named best Australian player of the match and Stephanie Newmark was named the best Australian player of the tournament. In other games of the day Belgium defeated Iceland 3-2 in overtime and Mexico beat Spain 3-2. Australia finished the tournament in fifth place, six points behind leaders Slovenia who earned promotion to Division II Group A for 2016. Belgium was relegated to Division II Qualification for 2016 after finishing in last place.
