2019 Women’s Championships: Australia lose to Spain

The Australian women’s national team have lost 2-3 to Spain in their final game of the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division II Group A tournament. In other games of the day Slovenia beat Mexico 7-1 and Great Britain defeated North Korea 2-1. Australia finish the tournament in last place and are relegated to Division II Group B for 2020. Slovenia finishes the tournament in first place and gains promotion to Division I Group B.

Australian women beat Spain for third straight win

The Australian women’s national team have won their third game of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division II Group B tournament, defeating Spain 4-1. Captain Rylie Padjen was named best Australian player of the match. In other games of the day Iceland defeated Mexico 2-0 and New Zealand beat Turkey 7-4. Following their third straight win Australia moved to the top of the standings, one point clear of Spain and Iceland. Australia take on Iceland today in their final game of the tournament with only a win in extra time required to win the tournament and gain promotion to Division II Group A.

Australian Women lose exhibition game against Spain

The Australian women’s national team have lost their exhibition game in Jaca 3-6 against the Spanish women’s national team. The team arrived in Jaca, Spain yesterday ahead of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division II Group B tournament which begins on 29 February. Prior to their arrival in Jaca the Australian team had been on a training camp in Prague, Czech Republic. Following the end of the exhibition game the two teams took part in a shootout which Spain won 4-2.

Australian Women lose to Spain

The Australian women’s team have lost their opening game of the 2015 IIHF Women’s World Championship Division II Group tournament, losing to Spain 1-4. Michelle Coonan was named best Australian player of the match. In other games of the day Iceland defeated Mexico 2-1 following a shootout and Slovenia beat Belgium 13-2. After the opening game of the tournament Australia is sitting in fifth place, three points behind leaders Slovenia and Spain. Australia take on Iceland today in their second game of the tournament.
