A Tasmanian entry into the Australian Ice Hockey League could be expected by the 2020 season following plans to build an Olympic-sized ice hockey rink in the State. Ice Rinks Adelaide have joined Tasmanian ice hockey promoter Tony Moldenhauer as a backer in-principle to build a multi-purpose ice hockey arena. The project however isn’t expected to start for two to three years due to Ice Rinks Adelaide’s current project in South Australia. Possible sites for the future arena include Burnie, Devonport and Launceston. For more information see the article by The Examiner’s Andrew Mathieson.
