The Australian men’s national inline hockey team have defeated Brazil 7-0 in their opening game of the 2017 IIHF Inline World Championship Division I tournament. Goaltender Michael James was named best Australian player of the match. In other games of the day Slovenia defeated New Zealand 12-1, Hungary beat Argentina 6-1 and Latvia beat Great Britain 7-4. At the end of the first-round Australian sit on top of the Group D standings while Slovenia lead Group C. Australia take on Latvia today in their second game of the tournament.
