The Australian women’s national under-18 team have won their opening game of the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship Division I Group B Qualification tournament, beating Turkey 6-0. Goaltender Taylah Pearson earned a shutout and was named the best Australian player of the match. Australia currently sits second in Group A, trailing Kazakhstan on goal difference. Australia returns to action on 15 January where they take on Kazakhstan.
