The Ice Skating Club of NSW Co-operative, the operators of the Canterbury Olympic Ice Rink, have applied for funding from the NSW Government’s WestInvest Program following the rinks indefinite closure due to structural concerns. The rink was closed last month until further notice due to issues with the roof structure. The operators, with support from the Canterbury-Bankstown Council, are seeking a grant of $17.7 million in order to rebuild the roof and upgrade amenities. If successful the planned upgrades are expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
