The East Coast Super League have announced changes to player eligibility and game times for the upcoming 2023 season. The percentage of players aged under 25 years on each team roster has been kept at 25%, down from the planned 30% announced last year. The no game number restriction on players who compete in the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) has also been carried over from the 2022 season. The league previously barred players aged 23 and over from competing if they exceeded the five AIHL game limit in a season.
The league also announced that the game structure will change to a 50-minute running time. The first two periods will be 15 minutes in length followed by a 20-minute final period. The finals however will revert back to three 20-minute periods. The change in game structure has been implemented by Ice Hockey New South Wales due to a shortage of ice time in the State.
