The Perth Thunder have announced the signing of Japanese forward Yu Hikosaka for the 2024 Australian Ice Hockey League season. Hikosaka spent 2023–24 playing for Red Eagles Hokkaido in the Asia League where he recorded three goals and three assists from 22 games. He also competed in a further two games for Hokkaido in the All Japan Ice Hockey Championship, recording a goal.
Between 2010 and 2024 Hikosaka has competed in the All Japan Ice Hockey Championship, Asia League, European Trophy, Japan Cup, North American Hockey League, North American 3 Hockey League, and the Red Bull Hockey Academy. He is also a representative of the Japanese men’s national team having played three games in 2023.
