The Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) have clarified their decision to penalise the Perth Thunder three points for their breach of competition regulations. This follows their initial announcement on 5 July where they, and the club, provided no details for the penalty.
Today’s statement outlines that the penalty was issued following the club’s breach of the Player Points System and their reporting obligations. The Thunder were found to have failed to report five player movements within the required timeframe which resulted in the deduction of the three points.
