Defender Neil Pretorius has left the Brisbane Lightning to return to the United States in order to continue his North American junior hockey career. Pretorius played 22 games for the club in 2024, scoring a goal and four assists. Since making his league debut in 2023 he has competed in a total of 45 games and recorded ten points. Prior to joining Brisbane, Pretorius had made his junior hockey debut in 2022–23 for the Wisconsin Lumberjacks of the Superior International Junior Hockey League.
