Australians overseas 2023–24: Canada (part 2)

Continuing our look at the Australian players who were competing overseas during the 2023–24 season. Today is Part 2 of 7 featuring Australians in Canada.

Ryan Duchemin (NSJHL profile): First season in Canada. Playing for the Membertou Jr. Miners in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League, Duchemin competed in two games between October and November.

Ethan Elford (CSSHL profile): First season in Canada. Playing for the North Shore Warriors’ Under-17 Prep Orange team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League’s U17 Prep division, Elford competed in 27 regular season games, recording five assists. In the Tier III Western Championships’ playoffs, Elford competed in a further four games and recorded his first goal for the season.

Olivia Gargano (SFHL profile): First season in Canada. Playing for the South Sask Renegades in the Saskatchewan Female Hockey League’s U15 A division, Gargano recorded six shutouts and a 0.98 goals against average from 14 games. She was also part of Notre Dame Hounds AA team during 2023–24.

Tobie Gilchrist (CSSHL profile): Second season with the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy. Playing on their Under-17 Prep White team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League’s U17 Prep division, Gilchrist competed in 29 regular season games, recording four goals and five assists. Gilchrist competed in further three games during the Tier III Western Championships’ playoffs.

Kobe Hoang (NAPHL profile): First season in Canada. Playing for Crystal Beach Academy’s Under-16 team in the North American Prep Hockey League’s U16 division, Hoang recorded two goals and four assists from 15 games. Heading into the 2024–25 season, Hoang will move across to Blyth Academy Raiders Under-18 team to compete in the North American Prep Hockey League’s Varsity division.
