Continuing our look at the Australian players who were competing overseas during the 2023–24 season. Today is Part 3 of 7 featuring Australians in Canada.
Kai Hughes (SIJHL profile): First season in the Superior International Junior Hockey League after spending the last three in the Pacific Junior Hockey League. Playing for the Red Lake Miners, Hughes recorded a goal and three assists from 30 games.
Bodie Jerome (CSSHL profile): Third season with Yale Hockey Academy. Playing on their Under-17 Prep team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League’s (CSSHL) U17 Prep division, Jerome competed in 31 regular season games, recording six goals and 27 assists. He then recorded an additional two goals and three assists from three games during the Tier I Western Championships’ playoffs. Jerome also made a brief one game appearance for Yale’s Under-18 Prep team in the CSSHL’s U18 Prep division where he picked up a goal and 14 penalty minutes.
Jed Lake (CSSHL profile): Second season with the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy. Playing on their Under-17 Prep Blue team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League’s U17 Prep division, Lake competed in 30 regular season games, recording 31 goals and 16 assists. In the Tier I Western Championships’ playoffs, Lake competed in a further three games where he recorded a goal and an assist.
Riley Langille (VIJHL profile and KIJHL profile): Starting his second season with the Campbell River Storm of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League, Langille recorded 16 goals and 25 assists from 32 games. He then left Campbell River to join the Kimberley Dynamiters of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League. Finishing off the season with Kimberley, Langille competed in 12 games, recording six goals and eight assists.
Matthew Last (CSSHL profile): First season in Canada after spending the last two in Finland. Playing for Shawnigan Lake School’s Under-17 Prep team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League’s (CSSHL) U17 Prep division, Last recorded six goals and 14 assists from 31 games. In the Tier III Western Championships’ playoffs, Last competed in a further four games and recorded two assists. During the season he also played four games for Shawnigan Lake’s Under-17 team in the CSSHL’s Eastern Division U17 and one game for Shawnigan Lake’s Under-18 team in the CSSHL’s U18 Prep division.
