Australians overseas 2023–24: Canada (part 4)

Continuing our look at the Australian players who were competing overseas during the 2023–24 season. Today is Part 4 of 7 featuring Australians in Canada.

Julian Lau (MPHL profile): First season in Canada. Playing for the Académie Ste-Cécile International School, Lau competed in 35 Canadian High School Hockey games, scoring three goals, and 17 games in the Midwest Prep Hockey League. Heading into 2024–25, Lau has re-signed with Ste-Cécile to compete on their Under-17 Prep team.

Courtney Mahoney (OHA profile): Third season with the Ontario Hockey Academy. Playing on their Under-22 Tardiff team, Mahoney competed in 13 games, recording a goal and an assist.

Johanna Meissner (OHA profile): First season in Canada. Playing for the Ontario Hockey Academy’s Under-20 Gold team, Meissner recorded two goals and two assists in her 58 games. In addition, she also made a one game appearance for Ontario Hockey Academy’s Under-18 Prep team.

Zac Mirfin (MPHL profile): First season with the Académie Ste-Cécile International School after spending the last two with A21 Academy. Playing in the Midwest Prep Hockey League, Mirfin made nine appearances in goals for the team during the season. Heading into 2024–25, Mirfin has re-signed with Ste-Cécile to compete on their Under-17 Prep team.

Keenan Nelson (CSSHL profile and ECEL profile): First season in Canada. Playing for the Ontario Hockey Academy, Nelson spent time competing in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League’s (CSSHL) U17 Eastern Division and the East Coast Elite League’s (ECEL) 16U division. In the CSSHL, he competed in 13 games, recording an assist, and in the ECEL Nelson recorded two goals and four assists in his 17 games.
