Continuing our look at the Australian players who were competing overseas during the 2023–24 season. Today is Part 5 of 7 featuring Australians in Canada.

Daniel O’Handley (HJHL profile): First season in Canada. Playing for the Cochrane Generals in the Heritage Junior Hockey League, O’Handley recorded two goals and nine assists from 29 games. Heading into 2024–25, O’Handley has re-signed for his second season with the club.

Morris O’Handley (HJHL profile): First season playing in the Heritage Junior Hockey League after spending 2022–23 in the Sask Valley Hockey League. Playing for the Cochrane Generals, O’Handley competed in 15 games, recording an assist. Heading into 2024–25, O’Handley has re-signed for his second season with the club.

Thomas Papas (CSSHL profile): First season in Canada. Playing for the Southern Alberta Hockey Academy’s Under-17 Prep team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League’s U17 Prep division, Papas recorded a recorded a shutout from his two games and averaged a 0.879 save percentage and a 3.50 goals against average.

Max Pettigrew-Kato (LHMJAA profile): First season in Canada. Playing for Royal de Montréal in the Ligue de Hockey Métropolitaine Junior AA, Pettigrew-Kato recorded a goal and two assists in 26 games.

Jett Porter (NAPHL profile): First season in Canada. Playing for A21 Academy’s Under-18 team, Porter competed in the Canadian High School Hockey (CAHS) system and the North American Prep Hockey League’s (NAPHL) Varsity division. In the CAHS, he competed in 40 games, recording three goals and 15 assists, and in the NAPHL Porter recorded a goal and five assists in his 16 games.
