Australians overseas 2023–24: Canada (part 6)

Continuing our look at the Australian players who were competing overseas during the 2023–24 season. Today is Part 6 of 7 featuring Australians in Canada.

Shai Rabinowitz (LHSE profile and EOSHL profile): Sixth season in Canada. Playing in the Ligue de Hockey Sénior du Élite (LHSE), Rabinowitz competed in one pre-season game with the Waterloo Maroons before signing with the Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan Jaguars for the season proper. With the Jaguars he competed in 14 games, recording two goals and eight assists. Rabinowitz also made a one game appearances for the LHSE’s Southbec Express and the Frontenac Phantoms of the Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League.

Cody Reader (FEIA profile): Third season in Canada and first with Fort Erie International Academy. Playing on their Under-18 Falcons team in the Canadian High School Hockey system, Reader recorded three goals and three assists in his 41 games.

Sophie Reader (GameSheet profile): Second season in Canada and first since 2021–22. Playing for Fort Erie International Academy in the National Girls Hockey League’s (NGHL) 19U division, Reader competed in 10 games, recording an assist. In the NGHL’s Red Division Championships, Reader played in a further four games and scored her first goal for Fort Erie.

Easton Robitaille (LRH profile): Fifth season in Canada and first since 2021–22 after spending 2022–23 in the United States. Playing for Lumberjacks d’East Angus in the Ligue Régionale de Hockey, Robitaille recorded an assist in his one game.

Colby Shumak (CSSHL profile): First season in Canada. Playing for the North Shore Warriors’ Under-17 Prep Orange team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League’s U17 Prep division, Shumak competed in 27 regular season games, recording six goals and 16 assists. In the Tier III Western Championships’ playoffs, Shumak competed in a further four games and recorded three assists.
