Plans for the proposed Marion Arena have abandoned after deliberation by the City of Marion and the developers, Pelligra Group. The increase in construction costs have been cited as the reason for the project being cancelled. The development was also impeded due two old gum trees whose potential removal had cause some public pushback.
The arena, which was to be located on 262A Sturt Road in Marion, South Australia, was planned to include a single international size ice sheet, a 450-spectator capacity, and rock-climbing facilities. Plans had been lodged with the City of Marion in December 2023 and public consultation had been open since early 2024.
