Brisbane Lightning appoint Christer Lundkvist as head coach

The Brisbane Lightning have appointed Christer Lundkvist to the position of head coach ahead of the 2025 Australian Ice Hockey League season. He replaces Terry Kiliwnik who stepped down from the role in October 2024. Lundkvist is currently the head coach for Tingsryds AIF J20 which compete in the J20 Region and a scout for Polska Hokej Liga club, KH Energa Toruń.

Before joining Tingsryds AIF, Lundkvist had spent time coaching in Denmark’s Divisionen, Norway’s 2. divisjon, and Sweden’s HockeyTvåan and J20 Elit. He also previously served as a goaltending coach for the Danish under-17 and under-18 national teams and led Spanish club Escor-Bakh Vitoria/Gasteiz at the 2013–14 IIHF Continental Cup.
