The Newcastle Northstars have announced the signing of defenceman Brian Funes for the upcoming 2025 Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) season. Funes spent 2024 playing for the Sydney Bears where he scored two goals and six assists from 26 games. Since making his league debut in 2011, he has competed in 312 AIHL games and recorded 96 points.
