The Newcastle Northstars have announced the signing of defenceman Riley Tonks for the upcoming 2025 Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) season. Tonks has spent 2024–25 playing for Kallhälls IF in the HockeyTrean where he has currently competed in eight games. Tonks previously played in the AIHL between 2022 and 2023 with Newcastle, recording eleven points from 41 games.
