Southern Suns claim 2016 UIHC title

The Southern Suns have won the 2016 Ultimate Ice Hockey Championship (UIHC) two games to one and claim their first tournament title. The Suns lost the opening game of the tournament continuing the Northern Stars unbeaten streak from 2015 where they won all three games and claimed the inaugural UIHC Cup. The Suns however bounced back winning Game 2 at the Perth Ice Arena before claiming the series in Game 3 at the Cockburn Ice Arena. The Suns defenceman Jamie Woodman was named the tournaments most valuable player.

Northern Stars sweep Suns in final UIHC match

The Northern Stars have won the final game of the 2015 Ultimate Ice Hockey Championship (UIHC), defeating the Southern Suns 4-2. The Stars claim the inaguaral UIHC Cup and finish the tournament with three wins from three games. The Suns David Kudla was named most valuable player of the match and Daniel Goransson of the Northern Stars was named most valuable player of the series. The coaches award was given to the Stars head coach Rick Cooper and Kaden Goulds won the the most creative shootout winner award.

Northern Stars claim UIHC title with win in Game 2

The Northern Stars have defeated the Southern Suns 5-0 in Game 2 of the 2015 Ultimate Ice Hockey Championship (UIHC). The Stars claim the inaugural UIHC title with one game to go in the series, having last week defeated the Suns 5-2. Stars goaltender Dan Wilkinson was named most valuable player of the match. The final game will be held on 31 October with the Suns looking to avoid a series sweep.

Northern Stars kick off UIHC with a win

The Northern Stars have defeated the Southern Suns 5-2 in Game 1 of the 2015 Ultimate Ice Hockey Championship (UIHC). The UIHC is an Ice Hockey WA sanctioned series held in Perth with players representing the rivalry of “North of the River vs South of the River”. The inaugural 2015 edition of the tournament is a best-of-three game series being held at the Xtreme Ice Arena in Mirrabooka to support the Harcourts Foundation. Both teams feature players from the Perth Thunder. The Northern Stars Rob Haselhurst was named the games most valuable player.
