2017 U18 Women’s World Championship: Australia promoted

The Australian women’s national under-18 team have won their final game of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship Division I Group B Qualification tournament, defeating Romania 10-0. Forward Madison Poole was named best Australian player of the match and goaltender Keesha Atkins best Australian player of the tournament. In the other game of the day Spain defeated Mexico 3-2. Australia finish the tournament in first place and are promoted to Division I Group B for 2018.

2017 U18 Women’s World Championship: Australia beat Mexico

The Australian women’s national under-18 team have won their second game of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship Division I Group B Qualification tournament, defeating Mexico 5-0. Forward Natalie Ayris was named best Australian player of the match. In the other game of the day Spain defeated Romania 9-4. As a result of their win and Spain’s defeat of Romania Australia wins the tournament with a game in hand and is promoted to Division I Group B for 2018. Australia take on Romania today in their final game of the tournament.

The Australian women’s national under-18 team have won their opening game of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship Division I Group B Qualification tournament, defeating Spain 3-1. Defenceman Lara Azzopardi was named best Australian player of the match. In the other game of the day Mexico defeated Romania 8-1. Australia currently sit second in the standings, trailing Mexico on goal difference. The teams have a rest day today and return on Saturday with Australia taking on Mexico.

Denmark defeat Australian U18 Women in second exhibition match

The Australian women’s under-18 team have lost to the Danish women’s under-18 team 0-3 in their second exhibition game in Denmark. The team is currently in Denmark on a training camp before the start of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship Division I Group B Qualification tournament in San Sebastian, Spain which begins on 26 January. At the tournament Australia will take on Mexico, Romania and hosts Spain.

Australian U18 Women lose exhibition game to Denmark

The Australian women’s under-18 team have lost to the Danish women’s under-18 team 3-5 in their first exhibition game at the Ørestad Skøjtehal in Denmark. The team is currently in Denmark on a training camp before the start of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship Division I Group B Qualification tournament in San Sebastian, Spain which begins on 26 January.
