New Zealand Women cancel Australian tour

The website National Teams of Ice Hockey has reported that the New Zealand Ice Hockey Federation has cancelled their Women’s national team tour to Australia due to a lack of player interest. The New Zealand Women’s national team were scheduled to play a two game series against the Melbourne Ice Women and Sydney Sirens in October. Australian Women defeat New Zealand

The Australian women’s national team have won their second game of the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division II Group B tournament, defeating New Zealand 12-1. Forward Sharna Godfrey was named best Australia player of the match. In other games of the day Mexico defeated Turkey 6-1 and Spain beat Iceland 3-2. After the end of the third round Australia is sitting in second place, trailing the leaders Spain by two points. The teams have a rest day today and return to the ice on Saturday with Australia taking on Spain today in their fourth game of the tournament.
