Perth Thunder’s Corey Toy was sent to hospital early in the game tonight against the Melbourne Ice with a suspected broken cheekbone. The injury could spell the end of the American imports AIHL season after one game and force the Thunder to start looking for a replacement defender.
Update: The Thunder have revealed that Toy has fractured his orbital bone in three places after taking a deflected puck to the face. He is due to see specialists on Thursday in order to determine a time frame for the injury.
