News Round-Up

Some headlines from the week:

2014 AIHL Season: Round 7

Round 7 of the 2014 AIHL season sees wins for the Melbourne Mustangs, CBR Brave, Sydney Ice Dogs and Adelaide Adrenaline. The fifth game of the weekend had to be postponed after the Newcastle North Stars bus broke down en route to Liverpool. A new date for the match is yet to be determined. The Melbourne Ice retain top position in the standings and are four points clear of the second placed Adrenaline. Next week consists of seven games with all eight teams in action.

2014 ECSL: Round 9

Round 9 of the 2014 ECSL season has finished with wins for the Sydney Heat and the Sting. Following their win the Sting move four points clear of the Reach Rebels in the standings. Next week the Newcastle North Stars take on the Heat in Canterbury, the Blueline Bombers play the Sting and the Rebels come up against the Penrith Raptors.

Rose resigns as Ice Dogs President

The Sydney Ice Dogs have announced that club president Shane Rose has stepped down effective immediately due to time constraints. The board is expected to make a statement regarding his replacement later this week. Rose’s resignation comes just less then a month after the entire Ice Dogs coaching team resigned.

Update: Following discussions with the club’s board Rose has agreed to take a months leave instead of resigning.

2014 ECSL: Round 8

Round 8 of the 2014 ECSL season has finished with wins for the Sting and Sydney Heat. Following their win the Sting move two points clear of the Reach Rebels in the standings. Next week the Heat take on the Blueline Bombers in Canterbury and the Sting come up against the Rebels.
