The Australian men’s under-20 team have lost their opening game of the 2015 IIHF U20 World Championship Division II Group B tournament, losing to Belgium 2-3 in overtime. After facing 42 shots compared to his opponents 24, Charlie Smart was named best Australian player of the game. In other games of the day Croatia defeated Serbia 4-0 and Spain beat Iceland 8-3. After the opening round of the tournament Australia is sitting in fourth place, two points behind leaders Spain and Croatia. Australia take on Croatia tomorrow in game two of the tournament.
