The Sydney Sabres have won the 2016 Australian Junior Ice Hockey League final after defeating the Melbourne Glaciers 6-4, claiming their second finals title.
The Sabres started the finals weekend with a win against the Glaciers in the first semifinal which saw them advance straight the grand final game, while the Glaciers progressed to the qualifying final. In the second semifinal the Perth Sharks defeated the Brisbane Blitz to advance to the qualifying final against the Glaciers.
The Glaciers secured their spot in the grand final after defeating the Sharks 6-2 in qualifier. The Glaciers and Sabres then faced off for the grand final with the Sabres winning 6-4 and claiming their second AJIHL finals title, their first since 2014. The win also sees New South Wales continue their dominance in the AJIHL playoffs with the Sydney teams having won all four editions.
