Given the significant lack of ice hockey news going around we thought we would take a look at the Australian players who were competing overseas in the 2019-20 season.
First of the ranks is Max Åhlström, a Swedish-based goaltender currently playing on loan to Järnbrotts HK J18 in the J18 Division 2. Åhlström, who also holds Swedish citizenship, has spent his entire career in Sweden. Initially playing in Frölunda HC‘s youth system he moved across to Bäcken HC at the start of the 2019-20 season. Before being loaned to Järnbrotts HK J18 Åhlström had progressed from Bäcken’s under-16 team to their under-20 team where he had recorded a save percentage of 0.879 from ten games.
