Australians overseas: Lachlan Fahmy

Defenceman Lachlan Fahmy spent the 2019-20 season playing for the Northern Cyclones of the United States Premier Hockey League‘s (USPHL) Elite and Premier divisions. Across both divisions he finished the season with three points from 39 games. Prior to 2019-20 Fahmy has spent the last five seasons playing overseas. From 2014 to 2017 he played minor hockey in Canada and then for the 2017-18 season relocated to the United States. In 2018 Fahmy joined the South Shore Kings of the USPHL’s Premier division for his first season of junior hockey.

Fahmy is also a member of the AIHL’s Sydney Ice Dogs, joining the club midway through the 2019 season from the Sydney Bears. He is a former representative of the Australian under-18 and under-20 teams playing in one under-18 World Championship and two under-20 World Championships from 2016 to 2019. In the national championships Fahmy has represented New South Wales on multiple occasions in the DeFris and Tange tournaments. Looking ahead to the 2020-21 season Fahmy has signed with the Indiana Institute of Technology and will compete in the American Collegiate Hockey Association.
