UPDATE: Some time after this post going live Ice Hockey NSW updated the result of the game between the Pirates and Flyers. The update saw a the Pirates 3-1 win turn into a 1-3 loss. As a result we have updated the post to reflect the change.
The Canberra Pirates have lost their two games in Round 3 of the 2021 Ice Hockey NSW Women’s League season. Playing in back-to-back games the Pirates lost their first game 0-4 to the Canterbury Eagles and went down to the Flyer 1-3 in their second game. At the end of Round 3 the Pirates have dropped to the bottom of the standings and are now five points behind the Bears who lead the league on six points. The Pirates return to action on 24 April when they play host to the Sydney Bears in a double header at the Phillip Ice Skating Centre.
In other news the Newcastle Northstars have withdrawn from the league after just one game reducing the league to six teams for 2021. All games involving the Northstars have now been cancelled.
