Central Coast Rhinos apply to re-join the AIHL

The Central Coast Rhinos have announced that they have applied to re-join the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL). The Rhinos competed in the AIHL from 2005 to 2008 before leaving due to disagreements with the licensing model. From 2009 to 2014 the club competed in the Australian International Ice Hockey Cup, spent a season in the East Coast Super League and played a couple of exhibition games against the Sydney Bears. The club re-applied to join the AIHL for the 2015 season but were unsuccessful. The news of the Rhinos potentially re-joining the AIHL comes after the Pacific Hockey League announced that their club, The Coast, would be playing the 2022 season out of the Erina Ice Arena.
