The Sydney Bears have announced the re-signing of Brian Funes ahead of the 2022 AIHL season. He will also take over the captaincy from Michael Schlamp who had held the role since 2010. Funes joined the Bears in 2016 after five seasons at the Sydney Ice Dogs. In total he has played 240 AIHL games and recorded 65 points. Funes is also a member of the Australian men’s national team, playing in five World Championships from 2013 to 2019.
