Continuing our look at the Australian players who were competing overseas during the 2021-22 season. Today features Australians in the United Kingdom.
James Downie: First season in the United Kingdom after spending the previous four in the United States. Playing for the Manchester Storm in the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) Downie posted a 0.858 save percentage and a 4.95 goals against average from eleven games. Downie also made three appearances for the Storm in the EIHL Cup where he recorded a 0.922 save percentage and a 3.18 goals against average. In April 2022 Downie was loaned to the EIHL’s Nottingham Panthers for the remainder of the season where he recorded a 0.805 save percentage and a 4.00 goals against average from two games.
