Sydney Bears fined for abandoning 24 July match

The Australian Ice Hockey League have fined the Sydney Bears $3,500 for abandoning their exhibition match against the Brisbane Lightning on 24 July. The Bears left the ice following a high sticking incident instigated by Brisbane Lightning player Josh Labrie near the end of the second. For his part in the incident Labrie received a seven game suspension and is barred for competing in national events until the suspension is lifted.
