The 2022 East Coast Super League playoffs have started with wins for the Newcastle Northstars and Sydney Bombers in the first round of the semifinals. In the first semifinal the Newcastle Northstars defeated the Polyflor Raptors 5–4 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium. In the second semifinal the Sydney Bombers defeated the Reach Rebels 4–2 at the Erina Ice Arena. Competition resumes on 9 October for the second round of the semifinals. The winner of each semifinal is then determined on a cumulative aggregate format.
