Following the end of the 2023 AWIHL Final the league announced their 2022–23 player awards. The Melbourne Ice picked up two of the five awards with the Brisbane Lightning, Perth Inferno and Sydney Sirens picking up one each.
- Best Defender: Sarah Edney (Sydney Sirens)
- Best Forward: Danielle Butler (Melbourne Ice)
- Best Goaltender: Makayla Peers (Melbourne Ice)
- Nellie Gee Rookie of the Year: Katrina Rapchuk (Brisbane Lightning)
- Highest Point Scorer: Elizabeth Scala (Perth Inferno) – 32 points from 14 games
I was watching the presentations after the game and wondering, but what about the MVP award????
I asked the AWIHL and this was there reply:
“The AWIHL does not do an MVP award. Just the awards you saw last night. Skaters Network used to do one to who they selected as their pick for MVP, but that was separate to the League as they used to be a sponsor of the AWIHL.”
I re-watched the awards ceremony twice to make sure I didn’t miss the MVP announcement. Sad that they didn’t continue to the award after Skaters Network withdrew their sponsorship
