Australians overseas 2022-23: Canada (part 4)

Continuing our look at the Australian players who were competing overseas during the 2022–23 season. Today is Part 4 of 5 featuring Australians in Canada.

Bodhi Matthew: First season with the Burnaby Winter Club. Playing on their under-16 Prep team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League’s U16 division Matthew recorded a goal and four assists from his 33 games.

Zac Mirfin: After spending the off-season representing South Australia at the 2022 Kurt Defris National Championship and the 2022 Sydney Tange National Championship Mirfin returned to Canada for his second season with the A21 Academy. Playing on their under-16 team in the Canadian High School Hockey system Mirfin finished the season with a 0.905 save percentage and a 2.50 goals against average from six games.

Morris O’Handley: First season in Canada. Playing for the Kenaston Blizzards in the Sask Valley Hockey League O’Handley competed in 22 games and recorded four assists. During the season he also took time away from Kenaston to represent Australia at the 2023 U20 World Championships.

Shai Rabinowitz: Fifth season in Canada. Starting the season off in the Ligue de Hockey Sénior du Élite Rabinowitz played two games with Laval Côté Ventilation and one with the Waterloo Maroons. He then moved across to the Watertown Wolves in the Federal Prospects Hockey League where he competed in three matches before finishing the season off with two games for the South Grenville Sr Rangers in the Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League.

Cody Reader: After spending the off-season representing Western Australia at the 2022 Sydney Tange National Championship Reader returned to Canada for his first season with the Blyth Academy Bruins. Playing primarily for their under-16 team in U16 AAA competition Reader recorded eight points from his 23 games. He also made eight appearances for their under-18 team in U18 AAA competition, recording two points.
