Australians overseas 2022–23: United States (part 4)

Continuing our look at the Australian players who were competing overseas during the 2022–23 season. Today is Part 4 of 6 featuring Australians in the United States.

Andrew Penca: First season with the United States Naval Academy after spending the previous three with the Indy Jr. Fuel. Playing in the American Collegiate Hockey Association’s Division 1 Penca recorded a goal and an assist in his 20 games.

Reilly Piersimoni: Third season with Phillips Exeter Academy. Playing in the United States High School’s Preparatory system Piersimoni scored six goals and eleven assists from 23 games. He also spent time playing for the Northern Cyclones’ 19U first and second team in 19U AAA competition where he recorded a total of 20 point in his 18 games.

Hayden Plimley: Third season with the Westchester Express. Playing on their 16 & under team in 16U AAA competition Plimley recorded a 0.907 save percentage and a 3.63 goals against average from 34 games. He also competed in eight games for the Westchester in the Tier 1 Hockey Federation’s 16U division and another eight in the 16U division of the Elite Prospects Cup Series. Heading into 2023–24 Plimley has signed with Hebron Academy to play in the United States High School’s Preparatory system.

Nick Ponomarev: First season in the United States after spending the previous two in Canada. Playing for the 95 Giants’ 18 & under AAA team in the East Coast Elite League’s 18U division, Ponomarev competed in 16 games, recording three goals and three assists.

Neil Pretorius: First season with the Wisconsin Lumberjacks after spending 2021–22 with Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy and the Cleveland Barons. Playing in the Superior International Junior Hockey League Pretorius recorded a goal and four assists in his 33 games.
